Group B category — what it means
Private Tutor / Teacher NEC is Group B at VETASSESS:
- AQF Bachelor or higher in a field highly relevant to the tutoring subject
- Plus 1 year highly relevant employment in private tutoring within last 5 years
The "highly relevant" requirement is strict for residual NEC codes — VETASSESS scrutinises subject-degree match closely.
Qualification evidence
Submit:
- Subject-relevant Bachelor degree certificate + transcript
- Teaching qualification (PGCE / Cert Ed) if held — favourable
- Master's / PhD in subject — favourable
- Subject-specific certifications (e.g., FIDE chess title for chess tutoring; ASCA swim coaching for swim tutoring)
Employment evidence
For employed tutors:
- Employer letter with title, dates, hours, FTE
- Subjects taught, age groups, examination preparation if any
- Outcomes summary (anonymised)
For self-employed tutors:
