The evidence pack
Reference letters
Each employer reference letter should be:
- On official letterhead of the park / operator
- Signed by a senior person (Owner / Operations Director / GM / HR Director) with their position
- Dated within 3 months of lodgement
- Specific about your dates of employment (DD/MM/YYYY format)
- Specific about your title — Park Manager / GM / Operations Manager
- Specific about scope (sites, cabins, FTE, annual revenue, peak / off-peak occupancy)
- Specific about hours per week (full-time)
- Detailed about the duties — mapped to the ANZSCO task profile
Duties to evidence
Map your reference letters to all of these where they apply:
- Park strategy — annual plan, marketing, capital improvement plan
- Financial management — annual budget ownership (sites revenue, cabin revenue, on-park retail, cost of cleaning / maintenance / utilities, capex)
- Workforce management — reception, cleaners, maintenance, lifeguards / pool, activities, security
- Compliance — state caravan park regulations, local council development consents, Safe Work Australia WHS, food safety (where on-park kiosk / cafe), pool / aquatic safety, fire / bushfire safety
- Customer experience — booking systems, online review management (Australian Tourism Awards, TripAdvisor, Google), repeat-visitor programs

Common rejection patterns
"Reception / front desk, not manager"
Reception or single-shift FOH supervisor work without P&L / staff hiring authority may be assessed at a lower skill level.
"Title without substance"
Generic descriptions of "managing the park" without specific sites / cabin counts, FTE, annual revenue, or financial figures get downgraded.
"Family business / owner-operator without governance"
VETASSESS scrutinises owner-operator cases. Provide business registration, audited financials, supplier statements, statutory declarations from non-related staff.
"Less than 20 hours per week effective"
Part-time or seasonal-only roles may be discounted unless you can demonstrate full-time-equivalent over the year.
The five-year window
VETASSESS counts post-qualification employment at the required skill level within the last five years from the date of application.
