Renewables boom is real. Massive wind farms (Sapphire, Macarthur, Ararat, Snowtown, Lal Lal, Murra Warra, Coopers Gap, Yandin, MacIntyre), solar farms across Queensland (Western Downs, Genex, Sun Cable, Edify Energy), big batteries (Hornsdale, Victorian Big Battery, Waratah Super Battery, Western Downs Battery, Liddell Battery, Eraring Battery), HV converter stations — all need T&C technicians.
Mining electrification needs technicians. BHP, Rio Tinto, Fortescue, Newmont, Northern Star Resources — all running electric-vehicle conversion, renewables-on-mine, grid-tied mines. FIFO from Perth or Brisbane is standard.
Protection relay specialisation is gold. SEL / Siemens SIPROTEC / GE Multilin / ABB Relion / Schneider P-series relay configuration and IEC 61850 station automation are scarce skills in Australia.
